First National Bank Of Omaha

First National Bank Tower

When I first saw the First National Bank Tower in Omaha, Nebraska, I was blown away by its grandeur. The towering skyscraper stands as a symbol of the bank's power and prestige, and it's hard to ignore its presence in the city's skyline.

But for me, and many other black Americans, the First National Bank of Omaha holds a different significance. It's a reminder of the systemic racism and discrimination that has plagued our community for centuries.

It's no secret that banks have played a significant role in perpetuating racial inequality. They've redlined black neighborhoods, denying us access to loans and other financial services that could have helped us accumulate wealth and build assets. They've been reluctant to hire black employees and have pushed us out of the industry at every turn.

And while the First National Bank of Omaha may have a shiny new tower, it has yet to address these issues that have impacted so many of its black customers and employees.

But we're not just going to sit silently by while these issues persist. We need to demand change and hold these institutions accountable. It's time for the First National Bank of Omaha to make real commitments to diversity and inclusion, to hire more black employees, and to invest in black neighborhoods and businesses.

Only then can we truly begin to address the historic injustices that have held us back for far too long. We can't afford to stay silent any longer.
